If you're worried or are at risk, talk to your doctor or health care provider. A simple blood test will let you know if you have diabetes or prediabetes, a condition where your blood glucose (or blood sugar) is higher than normal but not quite as high as it is for people who have diabetes. Prediabetes is also called impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) or impaired fasting glucose (IFG). People who have prediabetes have a greater risk of getting diabetes.
